Here at Riverside Coatings Ltd our mission is simple, provide you with proper powder coating and shot blasting.

We are a growing company based in Castleford (West Yorkshire) offering a bespoke powder coating and shot blasting service. Our 5m curing oven, along with our custom-built Autowash machine, allows us to be able to powder coat anything - from architectural steel work to alloy wheels. Our powder coating process complies with the British Standard for polyester coatings on galvanised steel (BS6497), which specifies the multi-stage chemical pre-treatment of:

  • De-greasing
  • Alkaline/Acid cleaning
  • Rinsing
  • Zinc phosphate
  • Rinsing
  • Deionised rinse or chrome seal

Our pretreatment process

Here at Riverside Coatings we use a 2 stage pretreatment process. Our Autowash machine uses zinc phosphate to treat galvanised steel, in a process which is brand-new to the powder coating industry, as well as being recognised by AkzoNobel. We can also offer 4 stage pretreatment for aluminium items.

What is powder coating?

Powder coatings may be described as 100% solid paint which comprises a homogeneous blend of polymers, pigments and additives produced in the form of a fine powder. The powder is applied, most commonly, by means of a spray gun that imparts an electrical charge on the powder particles and directs them towards the object to be coated. The object is then subjected to heat which causes the powder to melt, flow out and form a tough, coherent film.

Powder coatings may be thermoplastic or thermosetting. Thermosetting powders undergo chemical cross-linking when heated and will not melt again under heat; whereas thermoplastic powders use heat to melt and re-solidify and do not crosslink.

This sector includes:

  • Architectural
  • Automotive
  • Domestic Appliance
  • General Industrial
  • Packaging
  • Furniture

BCF (British Coatings Federation)

Why powder coat?

Powder coating is environmentally friendly, is more durable than liquid paint, and has an attractive appearance and finish. Powder coated products are more resistant to scratches, corrosion, colour fading and weather conditions, and there is also a wide range of colours, glosses and textures to choose from.

For our range of colours please see our RAL Colour Chart*. Other colours & finishes, with differing levels of longevity, are available and are ordered in at request.

*Chart is for reference only - not representative of final finish. Please request samples for specific requirements before placing an order.
